The mayor’s office said work on two new pocket parks in Quincy Center, the final phase of the $10 million Town Brook relocation project, will start this month.

The city has hired M.J. Nicholls Landscaping of Quincy to build the two parks, which will cover about 10,000 square feet on both sides of Mechanic Street, where Hannon Parkway and Revere Road meet. The parks will be built around more than 200 feet of brook that is exposed to daylight.
Christopher Walker, spokesman for Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch, said the landscaping project will cost about $275,000 and should be finished by late fall. The Town Brook project is being funded by a $10 million grant from the state’s MassWorks program.
